Its a Party & I'll go if I want to..
Hello hello.... what do you know, 2011 is just two months away. Time just flew by when you are having fun.
So Halloween is just a few days away, I am very sure that many of us are now looking for a costume or two for the party on the 31st of October. Well here are some history and ideas that you can ponder on before you go get your costume.
Did you know that Halloween is a celebration of the "Death"? In olden times, it is to celebrate the end of the "Lighter Half" and welcome the "Darker Half". It is believed that this is the time where the "Boarders" between this "World" and the "Other World" becomes thin. This allows the spirits (harmful or non- harmful) to pass through. Family's ancestors are invited home and honoured, while other harmful spirits needed to be warded off.
This is where the costumes come into play. The purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit to avoid harm to themselves. This is also the purpose of all the face carving on the pumpkins or other ghostly images on display during the night is to ward off evil spirits.
So your costume can be a grisly ghost or a pretty fairy, just make sure you have an idea on how you want it to be. The only problem is we can't find good and nice costumes in KL, either they have been over used by people renting it from the costume shops or these shop have the least ideas on costumes. You might also bump into someone wearing the same theme or costume at the same party. Why not have a little twist on your costume by making it yourself or recycle some of your old clothes. Its always best to be original and also save some money on it too. Dressing up in costumes can be fun if you just put some toughs into it. In everyone of us there is a child so be creative about it, as Halloween costumes can be anything that you want it to be.
Be it in KL or any part of the world that you are celebrating Halloween this weekend, have fun and let loose. We are only a child with dreams and fantasies. Oh! Please don't forget the candies that you need to bring along, you wouldn't want the spirits to go hungry and angry!!! HAHAHAHA!!!
