New Trends For The New Year..

Image
I have been very busy getting my new salon at Bukit Damansara ready for business of late. Now that the salon is up and running, I am able to continue writing my blog which I have left abandon for a few weeks already. With 2010 is coming to an end soon, what is better then to get yourself a nice creative hairstyle for the coming New Year. Next year's trends are very similar to what we are wearing now just that there are a few changes here and there. Firstly, the most important thing that you must have are a FULL FRINGE. It is worn with most of the hairstyles next year so make sure you ask your hairstylist to see if you can wear it. Perms are softer and bigger so that there are more movement and lightness to the hair. This will make it easier for you to take care of it at home. Hair cuts now will see a new dimension of PIXIE cuts, much more movement and choppier layers. CLASSIC BOBs are still in fashion with a harder lines and LONG LAYERS are back for those who still wa

Twelve games have passed, LFC is sitting in 9th place with 16 points in the BPL league (could have been 5th with 18 points if we had won). I am truly happy with the four straight wins including the one that LFC gunned down Chelsea, but the only thing that still bugs me is that how come Roy Hodgson still approaches games with very defensive mode? We could have won the match against Wigan on Wednesday if he had made a more attacking approach and offensive instructions to the players. Instead of putting in a more attacking formation when you are tied at 1-1, our dear Mr Hudgson when on and became even more defensive by introducing another defensive midfielder (C. Poulsen) and Jonjo Shelvey, he could have just played Jovanovic or Ngog for more attacking mode. In the first place the whole set up was suppose to be the same team that beat Chealsea on Sunday but what I saw was the same team with no sense of winning but to come out with a draw from the start. The tactics was to stay deep and de

Its a Party & I'll go if I want to..

Hello hello.... what do you know, 2011 is just two months away. Time just flew by when you are having fun. So Halloween is just a few days away, I am very sure that many of us are now looking for a costume or two for the party on the 31st of October. Well here are some history and ideas that you can ponder on before you go get your costume. Did you know that Halloween is a celebration of the "Death"? In olden times, it is to celebrate the end of the "Lighter Half" and welcome the "Darker Half". It is believed that this is the time where the "Boarders" between this "World" and the "Other World" becomes thin. This allows the spirits (harmful or non- harmful) to pass through. Family's ancestors are invited home and honoured, while other harmful spirits needed to be warded off. This is where the costumes come into play. The purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit to avoid harm to themselves. This is also the purpos

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind.. Healthy hair.

This is the question I always get from my customers, what does health have to do with nice looking hair? I assure you that when we are healthy not only our hair is nice but our skin and other parts of us will look good too. This because all the good nutrients are being absorbed by our cells and organs. Our hair is made of Protein so if our body takes in all the protein that is needed, the rest of the unused protein will go to our hair. If you notice, a pregnant lady will have very shiny and thick hair. This is caused by the extra vitamins supplements ( protein and calcium) that she is taking. Your hair will look dull and lifeless if you are not feeling well or seriously ill. The medications that is taken by you will be absorbed by your hair and will definitely make your hair lose its shine and luster. Health also plays an important role on your scalp too. When you are stressed your body will react differently. Normally the first sign is on your scalp, you might feel tightness or other

Why All The Knives???

I know that the past 5 weeks have not been easy on any of Liverpool FC's fans to endure. The team has not really played all that well, things in the boardroom also have not been kind. Rumours of businessmen from China, Hong Kong, another Americans and Arabian Royalty buying over the club has just passed and gone. Come first week of October, we might have a new owner at LFC and all us fans really hope that this time it will happen once an for all. With RBS forcing sale on the club I should think by then there will be more bids from potential buyers. The only thing that I am not happy about is that all the "HOO HAA" from the press when Liverpool Fc plays badly, why are they always picking on LFC? When the team wins, there are no praises, when there are draws they say that the team is not clicking and should have won and the worst of all, when the team loses, the press will blame everything from the boardroom to the kitmen. Why aren't there any bad press on MU, Arsenal,

Hair Loss Preventions

Today many of us have a similar thing in life, Hair Loss. This is one of the many problems we face endlessly. Until today we are not able to find a cure for this problem same goes with White hair as it is in our body hormones. Males have more symptoms of hair loss as the male hormones Androgen will leave most of us men bald by the time they hit the age of 35. That is also why they have created a chart call The Hamilton's Chart. This chart show the declining areas of the hairline on the head. Ladies faces less hair loss problem as their hormones Estrogen will prevent them any major hair loss. Ladies only face these problems when they have imbalanced hormones during Menopause as Estrogen decrease from their body. There are time we do not take care of our scalp too. Poor hygiene and less knowledge on the right kind of Shampoo and Conditioner to be used are the main factor here. Good shampoo contain less sodium sulfate so that it will not be too strong on the cleansing of the scalp. Co

Styles For Occasions.

With Hari Raya and auspicious months just around the corner, why not do something special to your hair? You can try out some of these ideas.. Putting colors or highlights on your hair will add depth and movement to your hairstyle. Some of us don't really like having colors that are too light, so think of Mahogany, Burgundy or even different shades Browns. For us Asian, these colors will suit our skin tone very nicely. There are also colors that don't contain Ammonia, this range do not have that pungent smell, it will not dry up your hair that much too. Thinking of something more drastic? Bored with your straight hair? If Sexy is what you are looking for, try putting some curls on your hair. These days perms are more loose and looks very natural, gone were the days where you have more than 50 rods on your head, it just takes 12 to 15 rods to get the perm done now and you don't have to spend the whole day in the salon. Changing you hairstyle is another way to go to if you are

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!!

I grew up in KL my whole life and I remember during my younger days, I used to look forward to Merdeka Day as I always hoped that I will be picked for the parade that goes through Dataran Merdeka, of course the holiday that comes with it. School was just another play ground for us as we would meet up and play a game of football everyday. All my school mates were of different races and were from different areas of KL and grew up thinking KL was the best city in the whole of Malaysia. Before I knew it, all my friends and I were off to different classes in secondary school but we still hang out during recesses and after school for lunch, movies or football games. I studied in St John's by the way. We had so much fun through out our school days. Unfortunately we had to go separate ways after Form 5 as most of us were of to colleges overseas. For some of us that didn't go away we kept in touched. Luckily for us there is FB now, I am in contact with all my school mates once again. Al

New Season.. New Hope!!

The English Premier League will be kicking off the new season 10/11 this coming Saturday . All the teams have already brought in new players to strengthen the squad to try to get into the top 4. Welcome back Newcastle United, Blackpool and WBA to the BPL. They will be fighting to stay up. My thought for this season, my heart will of course be with Liverpool to win the elusive league title for the 19th time but realistically I am looking at either Chelsea or MU as they do look strong. 3rd and 4th again will be between Gunners and Red of Liverpool. As for Man City and Spurs.... I see them around the top half of the table, Villa and Fulham will join them there. The rest of the teams, I don't see them challenging the top too much. This season looks promising for Liverpool as they now have a new Manager Roy Hodgson. So far he has done a not too bad job by getting in Joe Cole from Chelsea and it does seem to be working. With Gerrard and Torres staying put this season, Liverpool may have

Goodbye 42, Hello 43!!

By the time I post this blog. I would have just turn 43. Time do pass really fast, I just notice that my eldest niece is already 14 years old and has her own Fb account and 1 of my loyal client has been following me for more than 16 years. You know that you are getting there when your love ones tells you " dear you have a lot of grey hair on you, better dye your hair soon". Many tell me that age is just a number, as long as you think young, you will always be young. To myself, I do not feel old but physically I am not what I used to be. I would be able to stay up late or wake up in the wee hours of the morning to watch Liverpool FC matches but now my body would rather stay in bed and only wake up after the match is over. Looking at some of my former school mates, I can say that I am still in a pretty good shape. I wonder if working as a Hairstylist did make a difference or was it the way I was brought up in the fashion industries where everyone I met were beautiful looki

Thinking of beautiful hair.. try this..

I am sure there are many of you who would like to have hair that is full and shiny. Many scenes that you see on shampoo commercial that makes you wonder how do I get that? Well here are some ways that will help you to achieve those looks whether your hair is straight or curly. SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER This is the most important thing that you must own to be able to have beautiful hair, all you need is the correct type of shampoo and conditioner for your hair. Do ask your hairstylist which is the best for you. I would recommend professional ranges instead of over-the-counter products from supermarkets/ pharmacies... they are a little more expensive but they do make a difference on your hair TAKE CARE OF YOUR SCALP Not only does your hair need maintenance but your scalp too needs good care. This is to ensure that your new hair will grow strong and healthy. It all comes down to how healthy your scalp is and if its not taken care well, problems such as Hair loss, Dandruff, Oiliness, Dryn

Getting it right for your Wedding.

Image
To many ladies, wedding is the most important day of their life so before you or your husband-to-be go on a blind wedding shopping spree, I think this would help you get started. Firstly I would suggest that you and fiance write down the things that both of you want. This will help short list the things you need and places that you have to go. Maybe a theme for your wedding too. Secondly, put a budget on the wedding, this is very important as many clients of mine do not have a budget and they get confuse on how much they need to spend. Everything that you need for the wedding must have a budget i.e: Photography, flowers, banquet etc. This will help you avoid over spending on things, there will be many unseen expenses as the wedding draws closer. Make sure you shop around for the Photography Studio, there are so many now and prices do come down if there are competition around. Try going to Bridal fairs in shopping malls or hotels, sometimes if you are lucky you might get many freebies.

Tips for mothers to be..

What is to be done -Pre Natal and Post Natal As a hairstylist I do get many questions whenever I meet people. There is this thing that is behind my head for a long time. Many expecting mothers to be will always say this to me.. can you please make me look good, what can I do or can't do during my pregnancy? My advise are for the first three months please try not do any CHEMICAL on your hair, meaning no color or perms, as you will be inhaling fumes from the peroxide which I think is not that good. Secondly, let me clarify that when a women is pregnant, she does take in quite a amount of supplements to help the baby grow and with that means there will be a very thick layer of protein and calcium covering the hair shaft that will make her hair hard and course. In this case I suggest that she does more moisture hair treatments for her hair as this will make her hair softer and also less course, this should be done at lease once every two weeks. You can only do colors in the later stage

Questions for your Hairstylist.

Image
I spend most of the time chatting with my clients about their boyfriends/girlfriends, husband/wife, celeb gossips and even about themselves, but that's the exact opposite of what you should be doing. My reasoning: we are goldmine of info about your hair, figuring out your face shape, styling products and techniques and you're cheating yourself if you don't grill your hairdresser for the details while you're sitting in the chair. It makes sense -- so here are some questions you should be asking. Before the cut: - Will this work with my hair type? - Will this flatter my face shape? - If you intend to have your hair coloured, will this colour work with my skin tone? - Does long hair or short hair suit me better? - How would I look in curly hair or straight hair? - Am I losing hair or any other scalp disorder? During cut, perms or any other chemical jobs: - What shampoo and conditioner do you recommend? - Where should I buy the products from? From Salons or normal shops

Hairstyles that you might want to think about.

It's no secret that many of us do follow how celebrities look like. Here are a few of the hairstyles that would still be interest to you and some of these hairstyles still works today. Mia Farrow's Pixie Crop In 1968, after Vidal Sassoon gave Mia Farrow this extreme haircut for the film Rosemary's Baby, thousands of women ran to salons, eager to shed inches of hair, along with traditional standards of feminine beauty. It is still a very asked for hair cut by many ladies around the world. Even Posh Spice new hairstyle is base on this hair cut. Victoria Beckham's Posh Concave Bob Victoria Beckham decided to shears to her locks, she didn’t know that she would suddenly become an icon status with this structured style. Her Concave Bob is another favourite with women. Till today This hair cut is still don by many ladies. Princess Diana's Royal Do Diana reached the pinnacle of elegance and carved out one of the most recognizable and coveted styles. According to the poll,

Fun time.. Fever time

It is the time of the year again where we all can feel the vibes of the World Cup again. All over the world the fever is back. Here I am chilling with some close friends from LSCM at Chill Out Subang Parade. All of us came in jerseys of the teams that we are going to support for the up coming World Cup. The venue too had promotions on the World Cup theme. All in the jerseys of the team in the world cup finals in South Africa. It was nice to just chat and also talk about the up coming World Cup on who and who is going to miss the the games. Catching up on some gossips and also events that are coming up during this period so that we know where to go for viewing parties. England fan forever.. Although we support different teams.. we are bud dies forever.. There were some funny moments as all of us where getting flags drawn on us, I say the artist was quite pretty.. so were the promoters at the venue. Cameras were clicking away as though we were super stars or VIPs as these girls were
